Warren Skatepark
Warren skatepark is a DIY that started back in 2004, and has been an ongoing project ever since. The most recent improvement, and biggest challenge, was replacing rough asphalt with 2,000 square feet of new concrete. This most recent upgrade cost $9,000 and was funded by Mad River Valley Recreation along with Splinters Boardshop, Lawson’s Finest Liquids, and other private donations.
The skatepark which started out as only a slab of bad asphalt in 1997, has been built from the ground up by the local community of skateboarders. Since 2005, the skate spot has been repaved and now features a variety of terrain that includes quarter pipes, doorway, halfpipe, volcano, pump bumps, ledges, manual pad, curbs, and banks.
According to the owner of local skate shop Splinters Boardshop, skaters from all over New England now come to skate Warren skatepark. It seems only natural that in a place where winters revolve around extreme sports on the mountain, folks would look to skateboarding as an alternative in the summer.
You can find Warren skatepark beside Warren Elementary School. If you are new to skateboarding, be on the lookout for youth run skate camps here in the future.
