The rate at which female skateboarding is progressing is mind blowing. Female skateboarding is in a great place right now and the skateboarders in this list are a big part of that.

While skateboarding in the past was predominantly male dominated, things have slowly been changing for the better. Social media has probably played a big role in getting female skateboarding visible to a much larger audience which seems to be very much appreciated and well over due in the industry.

Some of these women like Brazil’s Leticia Bufoni have gained worldwide recognition not only for dominating in contests, but across social media too through sharing clips of herself skating with her 2.8 million followers on Instagram.


There is also a younger generation of female skateboarders rising through the ranks and catching the eyes of people around the world. For example, Rayssa Leal who is just 13 years old posted a video on her Instagram back in 2018 of her in a Santa outfit doing kickflip crooked grinds and lip slides which amassed over 164k views!

Another skateboarding prodigy is 13 year old Sky Brown who is going to be the youngest female skateboarder to compete in the Olympic Games representing Great Britain. Brown has accomplished great things such as jumping the “mega ramp” with the help of legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk!

Leticia Bufoni

Leticia Bufoni is likely the most known female skateboarder of her time with over 2.8 million followers on her Instagram account.

Bufoni was born in Brazil and started skateboarding at a young age entering several contests which led her to getting sponsored by some pretty major companies. She has several X-Games gold and bronze medals as well as Street League trophies.

In 2018, Bufoni was named one of ‘The Most Powerful Women In International Sports’ by Forbes. There is no doubt she will be dominating even more in the future.

Samarria Brevard

Samarria Brevard hails from Riverside, California and is an absolute natural on a skateboard. Brevard is a true street skater who is always putting time in filming impressive tricks such as landing a 360 flip down ten stairs!

She always has a big bag of tricks up her sleeve and proved she is one of the best in the game placing 4th in the 2013 X-Games, 5th in 2016, 2nd in 2017, and also won the Kimberly Diamond Cup.

In 2017, Brevard released a video part in ‘Don’t Quit Your Day Job’, the first all-female skate film to have debuted in America in over ten years then followed it up with a part in the Etnies ‘Album’ video in 2018. Brevard has a bright future and we look forward to seeing what she does next.

Alexis Sablone

Best Female skaters right now

Alexis Sablone has made it known that her heart lies in the streets showcasing her talent in several video parts including ‘Sir Palmer’ by WKND, ‘Tricolor’ by New Balance, and ‘Can’t Stop’ by the Firm. Sablone was also a member of Thrasher’s original ‘King of the Road’ in 2003.

This female skateboarder has also been dominating the contest scene with three gold, two bronze, and one silver medal from the X-Games.

Aside from all her skateboarding success, this woman has also graduated from MIT with a degree in architecture putting her knowledge to good use by designing skateable sculptures in West Palm Beach, Florida, Stockholm, and Sweden.

Lizzie Armanto

Lizzie Armanto is a very popular female skateboarder and for good reason. In 2013 she won gold for ‘Skateboard Park’ during her debut in the X-Games and has been stacking results ever since.

Aside from doing contests, Armanto made history in 2017 by becoming the first woman to appear on a Thrasher Magazine cover in 24 years! But as if that wasn’t enough of an accomplishment she then went on to become the first woman to ever be on a Transworld Skateboarding Magazine cover. But wait there’s more. She also became the first woman to complete the 360 loop!

Tony Hawk’s Birdhouse turned Lizzie pro, releasing her first signature skateboard in March, 2017. A signature pro Bones wheel followed in February of 2018.

Aori Nishimura

Aori Nishimura who hails from Japan started skateboarding at the very young age of seven back in 2008. Since then she has achieved great success having won several gold medals in the X-Games as well as being crowned World Skateboarding Champion by Street League in 2019.

Rayssa Leal

Rayssa Leal became the youngest skater ever to win a Women’s Street League World Tour Final at the age of 11. She also placed third in another Street League event, plus took home fourth place in her first X-Games appearance which is extremely impressive and a reflection of just how incredibly good this girl is at such a young age.

This 13 year old skateboarding prodigy from Brazil has become a viral sensation by posting clips of herself on Instagram skateboarding in tutu’s and santa claus outfits while jumping down gaps and doing other cool tricks. These videos helped her land some major sponsorship deals and got her noticed by industry giants like the Berrics who actually filmed a part with her at their skatepark. Sky Brown

Best Female Skateboarders

Sky Brown is another 13 year old skateboarding prodigy who is taking the world by storm. Brown is very active on social media platforms and has documented some of her biggest achievements such as jumping the ‘mega ramp’.

In 2019 she won the Simple Session event in Estonia, came third in the World Skateboarding Championships, and came fifth in the X-Games where she became the first woman to ever land a frontside 540 in an X-Games event. That’s not all though as she then accomplished third place in the 2020 Park World Championships in Brazil.

She says she comes from a skateboarding family and has stated that she even went to a pre-school that had a skatepark. No wonder she is so good! This girl undoubtedly has a bright future and we expect to see her blow our minds even more in the future.

Nora Vasconcellos

Best Female Skateboarders

Nora Vasconcellos is a professional skateboarder who moved to California from Massachusetts to pursue a career in skateboarding. Within five years of moving she turned pro for Welcome Skateboards and then became the first female on the Adidas pro team. She went on to win a World Championship as well as Transworld’s ‘Readers Choice’ Award.

More recently she placed 1st in the 2017 Vans Park Series World Championships and made number four on Thrasher’s ‘Top 10 Women & Non-Binary Skaters of 2019’.

Allysha Le

Best Female Skateboarders

Allysha Le is a vert skater from El Segundo in California. Le started skating in 2003 at the age of seven and hasn’t stopped since entering several competitions and eventually being invited to compete in the X-Games.
