Scotland offers its skateboarders a decent amount of skateparks that consist of big bowls and fun street courses to suit all levels of skaters.

While the skate scene isn’t huge in Scotland, there is an ongoing effort by Skateboard Scotland to make skateboarding a more accepted sport in the country. They have been pushing for the construction of more skateparks for the next generation of skateboarders to enjoy so hopefully there will be more facilities coming in the near future. Here are the best skateparks in Scotland so far.

Arbroath Skatepark (Arbroath)

Arbroath Skatepark was built in 2014 and features both street and transition elements. The double bowl has a vert extension, hips, and a spine. If street obstacles are your thing you will be pleased to know there is a stair set, hubba ledge, out ledge, flat ledges, rhythm section, euro gap, quarter pipes, and bank ramps.

Comrie Skatepark (Comrie)

Comrie is a great little countryside skatepark that was built in 2016 by Concreate Skateparks. The bowl has steel and concrete coping, banked extension, and a spine. As for street obstacles there is a bank to jersey barrier, flat ledge inset to a bank, quarter pipes and pump bumps.

Carnoustie Skatepark (Carnoustie)

Carnoustie Skatepark is located right on the beach of Carnoustie Bay and offers some pretty sweet views and a damn good bowl. The bowl consists of various depths from four to eight feet and has hips, clam shell, steel and pool coping. The street course has several ledges, rails, bank ramps, volcano, manual pads, and numerous quarter pipes.

Cowdenbeath Skatepark (Cowdenbeath)

Cowdenbeath Skatepark which first opened in 2018 was designed by Concreate Skateparks. Encompassing flowing transitional vibes, this skatepark is perfect for bowl skaters who want go fast and fly high. There is a large bowl with a pool section, open flow bowl with hips and walls, curved spine, and pump bumps.

Cowie Skatepark (Cowie)

Cowie Skatepark is 750 square meters (8,000 square feet) and opened in 2016. There is a mix of street and transition here that includes a bowl with varied depths and hips, hubba ledges, handrail, stair set, banked wall, vert wall, flat ledges, flat bar, volcano, bump bump, and quarter pipes.

Inverness Skatepark (Inverness)

Inverness Skatepark is 1,200 square meters (13,000 square feet) and has a variety of features such as street, transition, and a rhythm section. The large bowl has several hips, pool coping, concrete coping, and traditional steel coping. Street skaters will enjoy several ledges, manual pad, rails, flat bars, bank ramps, banks with gap, jersey barrier, pyramid, hips, and quarter pipes. This skatepark also has lights so you can skate at night!

IVERNESS SKATEPARK

Kelso Skatepark (Kelso)

Kelso Skatepark was built in 2017 and consists of a mix of street and transition elements. The bowl has a nice pocket and three hips while the street elements includes a down ledge, jersey barrier with inset manual pad, down rail, bank with a slappy curb, pyramid, quarter pipes, spine, and bank ramps.

Lennox Skatepark (Milngavie)

Built in 2017, Lennox Skatepark is the perfect place to learn new tricks as the transition is mellow and the ledges and rails are reasonably low. There are several quarter pipes and bank ramps, an extra mini ramp, flat ledge, curved ledge, A-frame with a rail and gap, flat bar, and camel hump.

Newport-on-Tay Skatepark (Newport)

Newport-on-Tay Skatepark was designed by Concreate Skateparks and opened in 2015. Transition skaters will like the bowl that has a seven foot deep end with pool coping and a five foot shallow end with traditional steel coping. The street section offers some great elements such as a bank to ledge, bank with inset ledge, down ledge, handrail, floating banks with a gap, taco, pump bump, and quarter pipes.

Renfrew Skatepark (Renfrew)

Renfrew Skatepark offers skateboarders multiple bowls that include a flow bowl with hips and a spine, a second L shaped flow bowl with a brick banked extension, and a backyard-style bowl with a shallow and deep end. The street obstacles include various brick ledges, manual pads, bank ramps, rails, and humps.

Saughton Skatepark has been a popular spot for Edinburgh skaters since its opening in 2010. The facility offers a large selection of features such as a pool-style bowl, huge flow bowl, hubba ledges, flat ledges, manual pads, rails, bank ramps, jersey barriers, quarter pipes, and much more.

Unit 23 Skatepark (Dumbarton)

Unit 23 Skatepark is the largest indoor facility in the U.K. coming in at a whopping 56,000 square feet (5,200 squared meters)! This skatepark consists of a transition section with a bowl, rhythm section with a foam pit, and a street course with a kinked hubba ledge, kinked handrail, down rails, A-frame with a ledge and rail, euro gap, fire hydrant, manual pad with long flat bar, stairs, quarter pipes and banks.

Sessions can be booked for as little as two hours up to seven plus hours. Annual memberships can be purchased and equipment hire is also available onsite.

Perth Skatepark was built back in 2003 and consists of both street and transition elements. There is a flow bowl, spine, quarter pipes, ledges, rails, stairs, and bank ramps. This skatepark is suited to all types of skateboarders and is perfect for beginners as there is plenty of room to stay out of other users way.

Livingston Skatepark (Livingston)

Best Skateparks In Scotland

Livingston Skatepark was originally built in 1981 but received upgrades in the 1990s and again in 2013. Portobello Skatepark (Treverlen) (Edinburgh)

Portobello Skatepark also known as (Treverlen Skatepark) is small but is designed very well. There is a four-foot mini ramp, quarter pipes, bank ramps, down ledge that can also be skated as a bump-to-ledge from the opposite direction, down rail, euro gap, flat ledge, camel hump, flat bar, and a manual pad.
