Best Skateparks In Long Beach

Bixby (Cherry Park) Skatepark

Cherry Skatepark actually started out as a DIY spot built by local Long Beach skateboarders. The city originally considered it as a temporary structure that could be removed at anytime however, the value of this skatepark was seen by Geoff Rowley (pro skater) and Mike Donelon from ASK Long Beach Foundation who succeeded in making it a legitimate forever skatepark. With the financial help of Vans and Zumiez they were able to build a proper concrete facility.

Cherry Skatepark now features various manual pads, flat ledges, center piece with a flat gap and a bump over fire hydrant, flat bar, concrete rail, slappy curb, and some of the original DIY quarter pipes and banks. This skatepark is the epicenter of the Long Beach skate-scene so don’t be surprised to see professional skateboarders here regularly.

Lincoln Park Skatepark

Lincoln Park Skatepark measures 3,500 square feet and was designed and built by Spohn Ranch. Opening in 2022, this skatepark is perfect for street skaters or skateboarders who want to improve their skills on a street course. It features quarter pipes at each end, large bank ramp, long flat ledge, manual pads with capped edges, down rail, flat bar, capped curbs, steep perimeter bank, and the ever increasing in popularity ‘bump over ball’ obstacle. The bright lighting set-up makes night skating a breeze especially with them staying on until 11pm every night of the week. If you find yourself in downtown Long Beach be sure to cruise by this cool little skate spot.

Robert Gumbiner Skatepark

Robert Gumbiner Skatepark is another small (3,000 square feet) Long Beach skate spot. Spohn Ranch are the company that created the design and put this skatepark together. Featuring a taco-shaped quarter pipe, A-frame ledge with a bank to bank gap, flat bar, two flat ledges, and bank ramp it definitely doesn’t have the variety of a larger skatepark but it sure is a fun spot to skate. If you’re looking for a place to warm up before hitting the streets of Long Beach this skatepark is an awesome place to do so. Beginners riders will also enjoy practicing on the mellow obstacles here.

McBride Skatepark

McBride Skatepark opened back in 2012 and was designed and built by non other then Spohn Ranch. Representing a ‘street plaza’ layout this 11,000 square foot skatepark is perfect for skateboarders of all abilities. The infamous LBC bank ramp is the standout feature and many other fun obstacles accompany it such as a bank to bank over a rock gap, flat bar, bump to flat bar, stair sets, unique transitioned out ledge and manual pad, hubba ledges, handrail, and a section with flat ledges and manual pads.

The design of this skatepark allows skateboarders to flow around the space nicely. Although the concreted rock gardens are aesthetically pleasing and help with the directional flow, I feel as though if they were just flat concrete it would open the space up a little more. Overall this is a very cool skatepark and is worth hitting up if you’re in this area.

Orizaba Park Skatepark

Orizaba Skatepark is another smaller sized (3,500 square foot) street inspired skateboarding facility located near downtown Long Beach. It features some mellow bank ramps with hips, bank to ledge, floating taco bank, quarter pipes, manual pads, flat ledges, and a flat bar. Whether you’re a seasoned skateboarder or just a beginner getting started there is something here for you at Orizaba.

Houghton Skatepark

Houghton Skatepark is home to the best bowl in Long Beach. This skatepark is for any transition skateboarders looking for a gnarly place to skate. The bowl features a spine, extensions, hips, varied depths, and steel coping. Other obstacles include a mini ramp, bank ramps, multiple stair sets, rails, flat bars, ledges, manual pads, and more.
