Gibbel Skate Plaza in Hemet is California’s newest skatepark and it has been making a name for itself as one of Los Angeles best! New skateparks pop-up all over southern California regularly but what makes this new skatepark in Hemet a cut above the rest?

It likely has something to do with the designer Kanten Russel. Russel is an ex-professional skateboarder turned skatepark designer for a company called New Line Skateparks. In a podcast episode on “The Nine Club” Russel talks in detail about his approach to skatepark design and how understanding the importance of obstacle height, length, and design plays such a critical role in a skatepark actually working. Russel said that you can’t just put a bunch of obstacles together and hope for the best and that a lot more goes into it then you would think.

With that being said, it seems like a lot of thought and careful planning has gone into this skatepark as many skateboarders are saying it’s one of the best they have ever skated. Skateboarder and YouTuber Dan Corrigan officially rated Gibbel Skate Plaza a 9.5 out of 10, so you know it’s something special.

What can you expect to find here at Gibbel Skate Plaza? First of all if you are a transition skateboarder then you will likely be interested in the bowls. The flow bowl offers a variety of features such as deep corner with pool coping and tile, island speed bump, hips, banks, and a shallow end for building up your confidence. Advanced skateboarders will also be impressed with the ten-foot deep backyard style pool.

The street course is awe-inspiring to say the least. Quality over quantity was definitely favored which is the reason why so many skateboards are praising this design. Being able to hit multiple obstacles consecutively without having to feel rushed to hit the next one is what skateboarders look for in a skatepark.

You will find various flat ledges and hubba ledges, round flat bar, square flat bar, manual pads, six stair, three stair, quarter pipes, and bank ramps. No matter your skateboarding style or ability you will surely love the options here at Gibbel Skate Plaza.
