Chloe Covell is a pint sized Australian skateboarder who took out the number one spot in Women’s Street at X Games in Ventura yesterday. Covell is the youngest female competitor to take a gold medal in Women’s X Games Street history.

From the get-go Covell was looking strong breezing through the elimination round with her signature kickflip on lock off the four-stair and an impressive 50/50 grind down the double-set handrail.

In the finals Covell stepped up her game with an impressive third run that included a frontside nosegrind on the bump-to-bar, heelflip down the four-stair, frontside 5/0 on picnic table, switch kickfliping the up-gap, and a frontside 50-50 kickflip out from the ten-foot long out-rail.

This 90.00 scored run was enough to see Covell on the top of the podium ahead of Liz Akama from Japan with an 87.66, and Momiji Nishiya from Japan with an 86.66.

“This is very overwhelming,” Covell admitted right after winning gold. “I’m super stoked, X Games is one of my favorite contests to compete in, and all the other girls did great– I’m just so stoked!”
