Minnesota skateboarders have been lucky enough to acquire some of the best skateparks in the Midwest over the last few years and there are plans to build many more. A push for new skateparks is due to the work by Minneapolis Parks And Recreation and City Of Skate, a not for profit company whose mission is to design and develop skateparks around Minneapolis.
In 2016, City Of Skate partnered with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to help implement their MPRB Skate Park Activity Plan which calls for twenty two skateparks to be built or rebuilt citywide. This is a big deal for the Minneapolis and Minnesota skate scene and shows how serious the state is when it comes to offering recreational opportunities for local communities.
The benefits of a well designed skatepark is that it can blend into its surroundings un-noticed and look just like any other park in a city whilst offering a safe environment for skateboarders. The hope is other cities will follow suite and realize the value skateparks bring to a community. Minnesota’s skatepark scene is on the up and we have compiled a list of the best ones you can skate right now.
