Best Skateparks On The Gold Coast

Coolangatta Skatepark

Coolangatta Skatepark was designed by New Zealand based company Rich Landscapes. The street plaza design consists of a quarter pipe, three ledge combo, A-frame with a rock gap and flat ledge, camel hump, brick pyramid, brick bank with inset ledge, brick corner bank, pole jam, taco-style quarter pipe, flat bar, pump bumps, curved manual pad, and a curved ledge. This is an extremely fun place to skate if you like street obstacles and flat ground.

Tugun Skatepark

Tugan Skatepark is located right beneath the Gold Coast Airport’s flight path so expect to see planes scooting by right above your head while skateboarding here! In 2015 this skatepark received a major $750,000 upgrade.

The new section of the skatepark includes an eight foot pool-style bowl with pool coping and tile, two hubba ledges, flat ledges, handrails, manual pads, flat bar, stair set, bank ramps, and quarter pipes. The old section doesn’t get a lot of love these days as the design and obstacles are out of date and the concrete has seen better days.

Elanora Skatepark

Elanora Skatepark has the biggest and most bad ass bowl on the entire Gold Coast. It also has a full-pipe which was actually the first ever built in Australia. The transitions range from eight feet in the shallow sections up to twelve feet in the deep sections. There is a vert extension, pool coping and pool tile. This skatepark is for experienced skateboarders only.

Varsity Lakes SKatepark

Varsity Lakes Skatepark consists of a large bowl that ranges from three to ten feet with numerous hips, cradle, volcano, and radial pocket. The street course is long and consists of a variety of street elements such as big hubba ledges and handrails, stairs, flat ledges, manual pads, walls, banks, and a mini ramp.

Pizzey Park Skatepark

Pizzey Park Skatepark is known for its iconic bowl but the facility recently underwent a major restoration. The new 3,000 square meter (33,000 square feet) Olympic caliber street course is very impressive. It comprises of numerous hubba ledges, flat ledges, manual pads, handrails, flat bars, gaps, bump over bar, A-frame, bank ramps, and quarter pipes.

This is one nice skatepark and having the option of skating the older obstacles and the new modern ones makes it perfect for every type of skateboarder.

Nerang Skatepark

Nerang Skatepark has a large flow bowl with a radial pocket, doorway and extension, and a pool-style bowl with pools coping. The street course is loaded with obstacles that include hubba ledges, out ledges, flat ledges, handrails, flat bars, stairs, manual pads, euro gap, bank ramps, and quarter pipes. This skatepark definitely caters to experienced skaters with its steep transitions and high obstacles.

Salk Oval Skatepark

Salk Oval Skatepark was one of the Gold Coast’s original bowls however it really wasn’t all that much to get excited about. But recently, Convic Skateparks built an amazing extension off the old bowl and it is now one of the most fun bowls in Queensland. There are several sections that include a tight pocket, hips, extensions, volcano, and pool coping. If you are in the Currumbin area it is worth making a stop here.

Coomera Skatepark

Coomera Skatepark was rebuilt in 2017 and offers skaters a variety of terrain. There is a unique shaped bowl with an arch way, pool coping, volcano, and an inset quarter pipe. The rest of the skatepark is made up of street obstacles such as two hubba ledges, handrail, flat bar, pole jam, flat ledge, camel humps, stair set, bank ramps, and quarter pipes.

Ormeau Skatepark

Ormeau Skatepark has become one of the Gold Coast’s most popular skateparks with local skateboarders. The diversity in terrain is likely the reason that skaters flock to this skatepark. There is a large flow bowl with pockets, extensions, volcanoes, pump bumps, and hips.

For skaters looking to shred the street course, there are numerous obstacles such as hubba ledges, flat ledges, manual pads, bump to ledge, rails, bank ramps, and quarter pipes.
