Southside Skatepark

Southside Skatepark is Richmond’s newest skateboarding facility. Opening in 2022, it was built by Artisan Skateparks and features both street and transition terrain. There is a pool-style bowl that experienced riders will have a field day in and there is also a flow bowl with a spine, volcano, and extensions which is perfect for intermediate riders. The street course has various obstacles such as down ledges, flat ledges, manual pad, handrail, flat bars, bank ramps, and quarter pipes. This is a must skate for any skateboarder visiting or living in the Richmond area.

Texas Beach Skatepark

Texas Beach is one of Virginia’s many DIY spots, and although it might not be one of the smoothest or most perfect skateparks, it does fill a void in the community. It’s easy to take a professional built skatepark for granted if you live near one but for some skateboarders it is all about making do. This skatepark is an ongoing effort by local skateboarders and volunteers so if you find yourself here be sure to lend a hand any way you can. Currently it features a variety of quarter pipes, bank ramps, lots of hips, vert wall, ledges, manual pads, and some other unique obstacles.

28th Street Skatepark

28th Street Skatepark started off as a DIY and evolved into the first “official skatepark” in Richmond. It features some nice bank ramps, a quarter pipe, A-frame with a rail, flat bar, flat ledges, kicker ramp, manual pad, and a decent amount of flat ground area. If you’re a street skateboarder then you will really enjoy this skatepark. It is also suitable for beginner skateboarders.

Midlo Ditch

Mildo Ditch is a rough, weathered, and gnarly DIY that is cherished spot by local Richmond skateboarders. There is a steep bank that runs along the edge, spine obstacle, and a curb obstacle. This is definitely not a beginner friendly skate spot. If you want to check it out you will have to do your own research to find its location.

River Bowl

River Bowl is an extremely cool DIY concrete bowl that sits between the train tracks and James River. It was built by local skateboarders and has become a popular Richmond skate and hangout spot. This is another find it yourself skatepark so grab your homies and get out there and find this awesome little bowl by the river.
