If you’re a beginner looking for a mellow skatepark to get your bearings then there are plenty of options for you. More experienced skateboarders are in for a treat as well with some gnarly transition and amazing street courses. There is definitely a skatepark here in Upstate New York that you’re bound to fall in love with.

The best skatepark designers and builders in the country such as Spohn Ranch, Grindline, and American Ramp Company, have all created some awesome skateparks here. There is also a dedicated crew of skateboarders who have built a very cool DIY skatepark which has been given the thumbs up by their local city officials for them to continue construction.

Luke Nelson Skatepark

Luke Nelson Skatepark In Medina, New York

Luke Nelson Skatepark was designed and built by Spohn Ranch and opened in 2021. This 11,000 square foot facility is absolutely amazing! There is something for every type of skateboarder as it includes both transition and street obstacles.

There is a two level bowl, three quarter bowl, quarter pipes, vert wall, hubba ledges, flat ledges, bump to ledge, manual pads, flat bar, down rail, A-frame rail, stair sets, up gap, bump over boulder, and bank ramps.

This brand new skatepark is smooth as butter and waiting for you come and rip it up! No matter if you’re just getting started or an advanced skateboarder you will have fun here.

LUKE NELSON SKATEPARK

Rockaway Beach Skatepark

The newly remodeled Rockaway Beach Skatepark is a 16,000 square foot concrete skateboarding paradise. Spohn Ranch sure did a fine job with this one and they listened to what the local skateboarding community were asking for!

There is long snake-run style bowl with a mini ramp section, quarter pipes, handrails, flat bars, flat ledges, bump to ledges, manual pads, hubba ledges, stair sets, gaps, curbs, and bank ramps which is all planted on silky smooth concrete for your skateboarding pleasure.

Niagara Falls Skatepark

Niagara Falls Skatepark In New York

Niagara Falls Skatepark is 8,000 square feet and consists of a variety of fun street obstacles. There are several flat ledges, manual pads, flat bar, rails, A-frame with ledge and rail, bank ramps, quarter pipes, cool skate-able NF feature, and a half pipe.

No matter what type of skateboarder you are there is something for all to enjoy here at Niagara Falls.

Long Beach Skatepark

East of NYC and south of Long Island is where you’ll find the wonderful city of Long Beach, which maintains a proud and passionate skateboarding community.

This skatepark is 7,000 square feet and beautifully framed by Reynolds Channel and its boardwalk in the shape of an “L”, which means a flowy and fun bowl wraps around the bottom of the “L” and eventually leads into a street area anchored by more transition on either end. There is also an A-frame with hubba ledges and rails, flat bar, and various other transitions.

Middletown Skatepark

Middletown Skatepark is 10,000 square feet and designed to accommodate all skateboarding abilities. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro there is an obstacle you’ll surely appreciate here. There is an extremely long flat bar set over a combination feature which has a manual pad with symmetrical out ledges on each end as well as some other rad obstacles such as hubba ledges, flat handrails, stair set, up gap, bump to flat bar, flat ledges, and bank ramps.

Alix Rice Peace Park Skatepark

Alix Rice Peace Park Skatepark is located in Buffalo (near the University Of Buffalo). It was designed and built by the Pacific Northwest’s Grindline. It features two bowls, one is a flow style with a waterfall, extension, and radial pocket, the other is a pool. There is also a small street section with a stair set, hubba ledge, handrail, round manual pad, bank ramps, and quarter pipes.

Montauk Skatepark

Montauk Skatepark In New York

Montauk Skatepark is a brand new (2022) beautifully designed concrete skateboarding facility built by American Ramp Company and Pivot Customs. This 20,000 square foot concrete playground features both street and transition sections so it will appeal to a variety of skateboarders.

The transition area includes a flow bowl with extensions, hips, and a volcano. There is also a snake-run and a professional style Kessler bowl with pool coping. Street skateboarders can shred varies street inspired obstacles such as hubba ledges, handrails, flat bars, bump to ledge, flat ledges, manual pads, stairs, euro gap, bank ramps, vert wall, quarter pipes, and skate-able granite boulders.

MONTAUK SKATEPARK

Roc City Skatepark

Rochester New York is no longer known as the only major city in the state without a skatepark. Thanks to the Friends Of The Roc City Skatepark an enthusiastic local skateboard group and the City of Rochester, skateboarders now have a place to call home!

This 14,000 square foot skatepark features an array of skate-able terrain for skateboarders and BMX riders. There is a bowl with varied depths, eight-stair with a handrail and two hubba ledges, six-stair with a rail and two hubba ledges, A-frame with a rail and ledge, bank to ledge, bank ramps, quarter pipes in various sizes and transitions, curved ledge, and a section underneath the bridge that consists of a quarter pipe, manual pad, ledge, and a flat bar.

The best part is this is only phase one of three for the Roc City Skatepark, so it is literally going to triple in size eventually.

Honeoye Falls DIY Skatepark

Every state has a group of skateboarders who are dedicated to making the world a better place by building and creating a space to ride skateboards. Here in Honeoye Falls such individuals have built a special little skatepark that features some very cool transition. If you happen to be in this area the state be sure to check out Honeoye Falls DIY Skatepark and possibly lend a hand if the boys have a pour going on!

This DIY skatepark has also been given the thumbs up by the local city officials to continue construction. We are looking forward to seeing what this project turns in to.

Albany Blue Banks Skatepark

Albany Blue Banks Skatepark was completed in July 2017 and features 20,000 square feet of skate-able terrain. This skatepark was built on four underutilized tennis courts located in the southwest quadrant of Washington Park and takes advantage of their terraced construction.

It features a diverse range of obstacles that include A-frame ledges, out ledge, rails, stair sets, bank to ledges, flat ledges, flat bar, pole jam, spine ramp, bank ramps, volcano, quarter pipe section with hips and an extension.

There is potential for a future phase to develop the upper courts, should funding become available.

Lake George Skate Plaza

Lake George Skate Plaza In New York

Lake George Skate Plaza is an awesome little facility for street skateboarders. There are hubba ledges, handrails, bank to bank, bump to manual pad, flat bar, flat ledges, bank ramps, and a taco quarter pipe. It might be small but it is designed very well and lots of fun for all skateboarding abilities.
