Over the last few years Virginia has been slowly but surely adding some nice skateparks to a variety of its towns and cities. Although skateparks are nothing new to Virginia, most of them were originally ‘do it yourself’ skateparks built by local skateboarders. Virginian skateboarders are very resourceful, and at the time had no choice but to make their own skate spots due to a lack of publicly funded facilities.

Thankfully skateboarding is becoming more popular, especially since its debut in the Olympics. This is great news for states like Virginia because the demand for skateparks is now increasing which means there is more likelihood of new facilities getting built.

Virginia may not be a popular skateboarding destination yet, but anything is possible. Whether you are a resident of the state or a visitor looking for somewhere to shred, you will be able to have a mighty good time at the concrete skateboarding facilities below.

Best Skateparks In Virginia

Williams Farm Skatepark

Williams Farm Skatepark is 20,000 square feet and was built by Team Pain. If you like to shred transition there is a large flow bowl with multiple extensions, hips, and volcanoes. The street course is just as impressive with down ledges, flat ledges, benches, brick banks, stairs, rails, and flat bars.

Powhatan Springs Skatepark

Powhatan Springs Skatepark is 17,000 square feet and is another build by Team Pain. The design consists of both street and transition elements. There is an eleven foot kidney bowl, five foot bowl, and a snake run with a doorway that will keep transition skaters occupied. The street course includes down ledges, marble ledges, handrails, flat bars, manual pad, A-frame, mini A-frame, euro gap, and quarter pipes.

Bedford Skatepark

Bedford Skatepark is 17,500 square feet and is located in Falling Creek Park. It consists of ledges, benches, banks, rainbow rails, quarter pipes, a banked bowl, flow bowl, professional bowl with extensions, escalating pockets, hips, and pump bumps. If you love skating transition this is definitely the skatepark for you.

Catoctin (Leesburg) Skatepark

Catoctin Skatepark, which is also known as Leesberg Skatepark, is 12,000 square feet and was built by Spohn Ranch in 2017. Skateboarders will get the best of both worlds here with a beautiful five to seven foot bowl, plus a nine foot pocket, and a spine. As for the street plaza, there are flat ledges, an out ledge, manual pad, bump to bar, two A-frame rails, flat bar, euro gap, stairs, banks, and a vert quarter pipe.

Woodstock Skatepark

Woodstock Skatepark is 30,000 square feet and brand spanking new as of 2021. The crew from Team Pain did an impressive job with this build. It features a snake run, a two-level bowl with a waterfall, five corners and two hips, quarter pipe with an extension, down ledges, flat ledges, manual pads, stair sets, handrails, flat bars, wall rides, banks, brick banks, and more.

Lake Fairfax Skatepark

Lake Fairfax Skatepark is 16,000 square feet and was designed and built by Spohn Ranch in 2012. There is a clover shaped bowl with hips and an extended pocket. The street section is extremely impressive and has perfect hubba ledges, flat ledges, handrails, stair sets, flat bars, manual pads, bank ramps, A-frame with rail and ledge, pole jam, and much more!

Herndon Skatepark

Does size really matter? When it comes to skateparks certainly not! Herndon Skatepark is only 4,000 square feet but that doesn’t mean there is not a bunch of obstacles to skate here. This skatepark manages to fit in a lot offering a nice bowl with pool and steel coping along with a street course that consists of stairs, a rail, flat ledge, curved ledges, quarter pipes, and bank ramps.

Texas Beach DIY Skatepark

Texas Beach is one of Virginia’s DIY spots, and although it might not be one of the smoothest or most perfect skateparks, it does fill a void in the community. It’s easy to take a professional built skatepark for granted if you live near one but for some skateboarders it is all about making do. This skatepark is an ongoing effort by local skateboarders and volunteers so if you find yourself here, be sure to lend a hand any way you can.

Warren County Skatepark

Warren County Skatepark is 17,000 square feet and was designed and built by Pillar Design Studios and Artisan Skateparks. There is a pool-style bowl with an extension, a flow bowl with hips, spine, and volcano. The street section features down ledges, handrails, stairs, a pole jam, some big camel humps, and a massive vert quarter pipe.

Charlottesville Skatepark

Charlottesville Skatepark is literally split in to two skateparks. One is a complete transition park with multiple bowls. The other is a complete silky smooth street park with down ledges, flat ledges, flat bars, rails, manual pad, stairs, volcano, bank ramps, and quarter pipes. There really is something for every type or style of skateboarder here.

MEKOS Skatepark

MEKOS Indoor Skatepark offers a variety of terrain such as a half pipe, quarter pipes, spine ramp, bank ramps, flat bars, rails, hubba ledges, flat ledges, a pyramid, and more. The skatepark is owned by a local church and will cost you $10 to skate.

Lake Meade Skatepark

Lake Meade Skatepark was built by Spohn Ranch back in 2011. The 6,000 square foot skatepark features a hubba ledge, handrail, rail, stair set, bank with two steps, curved ledge, flat ledge, manual pad, and two flat banks with a gap.
