When you think of skateparks in Maryland you more than likely think of the largest city of Baltimore. While there are a few nice skateparks in Baltimore, it is the surrounding cities and suburbs of Maryland where you will actually find the best skateparks.
The state of Maryland has a unique history with skateboarding and in fact, this state holds two of the oldest skateparks in the USA! If you’re wondering where these are you can check out Ocean Bowl in Ocean City and Sandy Hills Skatepark in Lansdowne if you want to have a peak at skateboarding history.

Best Skateparks In Maryland
Hagerstown Skatepark

Hagerstown Skatepark is brand new as of September 2022 and is likely now the best skatepark in Maryland. It was designed and built by Spohn Ranch and features a mix of street and transition. There is a perfect mini ramp, flow bowl, quarter pipes, bank ramps, flat ledges, manual pads, flat bar, rail, skate-able “h” sculpture, and a pump track.
This skatepark is great for anyone from beginners to advanced riders and everyone in between. Be sure to check it out if you’re in the area.
HAGERSTOWN SKATEPARK

South Branch Skatepark


South Branch Skatepark in Maryland was actually a DIY spot created by local skaters who convinced their county to invest in building a legit skatepark. Spohn Ranch was the skatepark builder of choice and as usual they didn’t disappoint.
The suburb of Sykesville ended up with a state of the art skatepark that features a bowl, mini ramp, ledges, rails, and an overall design that focuses on continuous flow.

North Laurel Skatepark


North Laurel Skatepark is a 12,000 square foot skatepark that was built and designed by Spohn Ranch who worked with local landscape architects as part of a revitalization project for the North Laurel Community Center.
This skatepark in Maryland is aimed towards all types and levels of skateboarders from beginner to expert. The skatepark features a bowl, quarter pipes, volcano with a boulder, other skateable boulders, ledges, and banks.
Skateboarders are required to wear helmets here along with elbow and kneepads, wrist guards, shirts, and shoes. It does not have night lights but locals have been petitioning to have them installed.

Walker Mill Skatepark


Walker Mill Skatepark in Maryland was designed and built by Spohn Ranch in 2015. It is a great all round skatepark with a mix of street and transition features. There is a bowl along with some other surrounding transition along with street features that include a stair set, hubba, rail, and ledge. This is a great skatepark for street and transition skaters alike.

Sunnyside Skatepark


Sunnyside Skatepark in Maryland is a small 5000 square foot skatepark designed and built by Grindline Skateparks. This skatepark has a really nice little bowl that is perfect for practicing and progressing your transition skating. The street section features a quarter pipe, stair set, hubba, rail, bench, euro gap, and ledge. Sunnyside skatepark is small but it has everything you need.

Skatepark Of Baltimore


The Skatepark Of Baltimore was once a flat open space that housed homemade DIY creations but was redesigned into a top-notch concrete plaza in 2016. This newer 11,000 square foot skatepark now features stairs and a small handrail, bumps, and ledges that provide for smooth lines for skateboarders. In addition, there are deep bowls for the more experienced skateboarders as well as ledges on both sides.
This skatepark build was made possible thanks to donations from the Tony Hawk Foundation, private donors, and the Department of Recreation and Parks. It has been a hit with locals since drawing as many as one hundred skateboarders on average every day. You best check it out!

Olney Manor Skatepark


Olney Manor Skatepark in Maryland is a 14,400 square foot skatepark designed by Site Design Group and constructed by California Skateparks. This skatepark features a large 10 foot deep bowl with pool coping, a stair set, hubba, rail, flat rail, ledges, fun box, manual pad, and pyramid ledge.

OLNEY MANOR SKATEPARK

Greenbelt Skatepark


Greenbelt Skatepark in Maryland is 7,000 square feet and was designed and built by California Skateparks. This skatepark has a good mix of features including a 10.5 foot deep peanut-shaped bowl with pool coping, kidney bowl, banks, hips, ledges, gaps, and step-ups. This is a great little skatepark waiting for you to shred it!
GREENBELT SKATEPARK

Melrose Skatepark


Melrose Skatepark in Hyattsville is a modern street plaza designed and built by American Ramp Company. This skatepark is definitely on the progressive and artistic side with skatable garden features and boulders incorporated into the design.
The skatepark consists of ledges, rails, stairs, banks, hips which is all lit up at night by solar powered lights! How’s that for eco-friendly?!
