Vermont might not be a state that comes to mind when you think of skateboarding but with new innovative and modern skateparks being built here in recent years, this state is slowly but surely building its credibility in the skate scene.

While it’s true that Vermont does see a long winter which is not conducive to skateboarding, once the sun starts shining, usually around mid-May, skaters come out in full force.

One professional skateboarder who represents Vermont is Chris ‘Cookie’ Colburn who honed his craft in the state before taking his skill to the Los Angeles streets. It’s only a matter of time before other Vermont natives turn pro and get their name on the bottom of a skateboard deck too.

Since this extreme sport has grown in popularity exponentially since skateboarding made it to the Olympics, many states across the U.S. are now using public funds to build more skateparks in their cities. Andy A_Dog Williams Skatepark

Andy A_Dog Skatepark is 21,000 square feet and was designed by Grindline and built by Artisan Skateparks in 2015. There is a variety of street terrain such as a hubba ledge, flat ledges, curved ledges, manual pads, camel humps, handrails, flat bar, stairs, landscape rocks, euro gap, quarter pipes, banks, and a massive vert bank. Transition skaters were not forgotten about here with a mini bowl and a big flow bowl right in the center of the skatepark.

ANDY A_DOG SKATEPARK

Manchester Skatepark

Manchester Skatepark was designed by Grindline and offers skaters a mix of street and transition obstacles. The half bowl with an extended pocket is perfect for learning new transition tricks. There is a good selection of street elements consisting of down ledges, flat ledges, manual pad, euro gap, stairs, handrail, and two volcanoes connected to a quarter pipe in between.

Perseverance Skatepark

Perseverance Skatepark in Battlebro was given its name because it took the local community nearly two decades of persistence in the face of repeated disappointment to get a skatepark built in Brattleboro. Well, the wait is finally over and skateboarders now have a super nice skatepark to call their own. The street section features two hubba ledges, stairs, handrail, flat bar, euro gap, A-frame with rail, manual pad, banks, and quarter pipes. There is also a sick bowl you are sure to be stoked on!

Bristol Skatepark

The Bristol Skatepark features above ground obstacles such as quarter pipes, mini halfpipe, pyramid, china box, ledges, flat bars, manual pads, and banks ramps. It’s located adjacent to the Bristol Hub Teen Center which has a bathroom along with skateboard and helmet rentals. The staff here are willing to film you doing some tricks if you want to make a video of yourself. Do it for the ‘gram!

Warren Skatepark

Warren Skatepark is a DIY that started back in 2004, and has been an ongoing project ever since. The most recent improvement, and biggest challenge, was replacing rough asphalt with 2,000 square feet of new concrete. There is a variety of terrain that includes quarter pipes, doorway, halfpipe, volcano, pump bumps, ledges, manual pad, curbs, and banks.
