Idaho is a hidden gem when it comes to high-quality skateparks and Boise just upped its game with another amazing skateboarding facility in Molenaar Park. The brand new 15,000 square foot Molenaar Skatepark opened on August 1st, 2023.
Molenaar Skatepark wouldn’t have been possible without a sizable donation from the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation. It’s wonderful to see their generosity benefiting the community through this skatepark which was designed in partnership with Grindline Skateparks, and the Boise Skateboard Association.
Molenaar Skatepark In Boise
Molenaar Skatepark was designed to accommodate everyone from a beginner to professional and it will act as a stepping stone for new skateboarders looking to hone in their skills before trying their hand at Boise’s Rhodes Skatepark. It features an enclosed bowl with hips and an extension, traditional steel coping, and pool coping. There is also a mini open style bowl with a spine, hips, and bumps. If you’re new to skateboarding or you want to improve your transition skills then these areas of the skatepark will help you immensely.
Street skaters are blessed with an awesome array of street obstacles that includes a two-flat-two stair set, handrail, pyramid with an extra long ledge and rail, down ledges, flat ledges, out ledges, manual pads, flat bar, slappy curbs, curb bump, and a pyramid with a curb. There are also bank ramps and quarter pipes at each end of the skatepark to help with speed and flow. Grindline did an exceptional job with not over-crowding the street course with features and insured skateboarders can flow between obstacles with ease. This skatepark just screams FUN no matter your ability level or style.
If you find yourself in the Boise area you really don’t won’t to miss out on a session at this amazing new skatepark. As usual always use skatepark etiquette, pick up your trash, and respect the space. Happy shredding!
