It has been a long and bumpy road to say the least but to finally see this dream come to life is truly an amazing feat. This $2.6 million skateboarding facility is going to bring joy and happiness to range of riders of all ages! Byron Bay is no longer just a destination for backpackers and surfers looking to soak up the sun but a place where skateboarders will now pin on there map as well.
Byron Bay Skatepark And Recreation Precinct
The new Byron Bay Skatepark was designed and built by a popular Australian skatepark construction company called Convic. Their modern take on skatepark design and their ability to produce high-quality skateparks that suit a variety of riders has earned them a sort after reputation around the country.
If you’re looking to test your skills at this new skatepark you will be glad to know that it includes a mix of both transition and street obstacles. There is a ten-foot deep professional-style bowl with pool coping and a mini bowl with a spine, volcano, and hips. Beginners can take advantage of not one but two mini halfpipes with a spine and a bump which are perfect for beginners wanting to get a feel for skating ramps.
The rest of the skatepark is a series of street obstacles that include pyramids, bank with inset ledges and manual pads, flat ledges, bump to ledge, planter, China bank, down ledges, stairs, extensions, large extended bank ramp, numerous quarter pipes, rails, bump to rails, euro gap, and a jersey barrier.
