Houston has a great skate scene and a cool skateboarding history. In the late eighties and early nineties, the Skatepark Of Houston (which no longer exists) was host to the legendary Shut Up And Skate contests which saw professional skateboarders from all over the world come to Houston to compete. This is all that was needed to spark the Houston skate scene on fire which has been burning strong ever since.

Today, there are several great skateparks in Houston that include big bowls, street courses, and street plaza designs. Up until the year 2020, Houston even held the record for the biggest skatepark in the United States!

North Houston Skatepark

North Houston Skatepark is a real ‘big dog’ when it comes to skateparks. This massive skatepark measures in at a whopping 78,000 square feet! Yes, it is the biggest skatepark in Texas! In fact, it was actually the biggest skatepark in the USA up until last year when Lauridsen Skatepark in Des Moines got built.

This awesome skatepark consists of a twenty foot full pipe, twelve foot vert bowl, ten foot bowl, and a killer snake run. The street section is just as impressive with every kind of obstacle known to man such as flat ledges, hubba ledges, out ledges, manual pads, handrails, flat bars, stair sets, A-frames, bank ramps, launch ramps, quarter pipes, and the list goes on. This is a must skate for any skateboarder visiting Houston!

Lee And Joe Jamail Skatepark

Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark is a fantastic skateboarding facility in downtown Houston. It measures in at 30,000 square feet and features a variety of terrain to suit all styles of skateboarders.

There is a kidney-shaped advanced bowl, huge flow bowl with an over-vert capsule, hips, and extensions. The street course consists of hubba ledges, flat ledges, manual pads, rails, flat bars, stairs, euro gap, bank ramps, and quarter pipes. This skatepark really is great for for everyone no matter what you ability level is.

Southside Texas Skatepark

Southside Texas Skatepark

Southside Skatepark is an indoor facility as well as a skate shop. The skatepark features some really nice bowls and a street course with quarter pipes, bank ramps, flat ledges, stairs, rails, bump-to-ledge, and manual pads.

This indoor skatepark has been in operation for over twenty five years and is one of the most popular places for local Dallas skateboarders to practice their craft. No matter what your skill level is, Southside is a great spot to go skateboarding.

Skate sessions here cost $10 and memberships are also available.

Community Park Skatepark

Community Park Skatepark is 5,000 square feet and was built in early 2019. This skatepark offers a diverse range of obstacles including a slappy bank, quarter pipes, flat ledge, flat bar, bank table top with bell hip, wedge to wedge with rooftop rail and ledge, bank, hubba ledge, six-stair, down rail, up gap, A-frame with a ledge and rail, pyramid, and a bank-to-ledge. There is also plenty of flat ground to practice tricks on.

Gulfton Skatepark (The Station)

Gulfton Skatepark (known as ‘The Station’) is 17,500 square feet of skate-able terrain. There are quarter pipes in various sizes, extensions, quarter pipe island, bank ramps, hubba ledges, flat ledges, bump-to-ledges, rails, bank-to-ledges, manual pads, flat bar, stairs, and a flow bowl with an extension. This is one of the most fun parks to skate in Houston!
