Rhode Island skateparks are as gnarly as the skateboarders who inhabit them. Forget brand new skateparks with perfectly smooth concrete, no this is where only real skateboarders thrive. Street spots here have been turned in to legally sanctioned skateparks, DIYs live in the shadows, and there is only one indoor skatepark in the entire state! Even though there is not an abundance of skateparks here there is still a healthy population of skateboarders who have adapted to their surroundings. If you make it out here just remember to pack some bigger wheels that will plow through the crust they call concrete.

Whether you live in Rhode Island or you’re just passing through, there is a skatepark waiting for you to come and have session. Oh, and if you do make it over this way you have to check out the world’s largest bug on a roof which is a blue termite, 58 feet long and 928 times the actual size of a termite!

Trinity Skate Spot

Street spot? Street Plaza? Skatepark? Well, it’s a bit of all three really. Adrian Hall Park, across the street from the Trinity Repertory Theater in downtown Providence, has been a stop for skaters since the early nineties.

However, it wasn’t until the local skateboarding community jumped through every hoop the parks department and building inspectors threw at them that it actually became a legally sanctioned skate spot. Once the thumbs up was received from the city, the local skateboarding community were allowed to re-build and add new obstacles in to the existing public space.

Trinity Skate Spot now consists of some vert brick quarter pipes, brick volcano, flat ledges, manual pad, bank to ledge, bank ramps, euro gap, stage area, and a unique kicker ramp. There is a lot of skate history at this spot and it is a must skate for any skateboarder visiting Providence.

Old Mountain Field (OMF) Skatepark

OMF Skatepark was built back in 2000, however, it has been an ongoing project ever since. The street area consists of various rails, flat bars, pole jams, curved rails, slappy curbs, ledges, boxes, benches, stairs, quarter pipes, and bank ramps. The latest edition is a rad pool-style bowl with pool coping and a deep and shallow end.

Is this a perfect skatepark? No, but it sure is a great place to ride a skateboard. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned veteran there is lots of fun to be had here.

Bulgarmarsh (Tiverton) Skatepark

Bulgarmarsh Skatepark in Tiverton was built back in 2012 and consists of both street and transition elements. There is a flow bowl with pool and steel coping, two identical quarter pipes, a small quarter pipe, handrail, stair set, hubba ledge, euro gap, bank to ledge, and bank ramps. There is something for all types of riders and abilities to enjoy at this skatepark.

Neutaconkanut Skatepark

Neutaconkanut Skatepark was built by Breaking Ground Skateparks and is definitely a unique design. The city had to abide by insurance laws that wouldn’t let any transition to exceed four feet, pretty weird right? But this doesn’t have much of an effect on it as there is still great flow and plenty of fun obstacles.

The transition is steep, there’s pool coping, noping, and thicker steel coping across the quarter pipes, and some cool integrations like the manhole cover and trash barrel. There are also flat ledges, jersey barrier hubba, pyramid with a rail, pump area, and bank ramps.

It is definitely worth checking out if you’re are in the area and want to have a thrash!

Bos’s Skatepark And Manton Ave Skatepark

This is a two for one deal! Bob’s Skatepark (shown in the first two pictures above) is an older beaten up facility that features a mix of DIY obstacles mixed with some legitimately built stuff. There are stairs, rails, quarter pipes, ledges, curbs, and other random things.

The second one is Manton Ave Skatepark which is a newer facility that consist of some concrete pump bumps, and a quarter pipe standing ten-feet tall (nine-feet of transition and one-foot of vert).

These skateparks are on the opposite sides of the road about 100 feet away from each other! It takes about a minute to walk between them.

Jamestown Skatepark

Jamestown Skatepark was built back in the early 2000s but this little gem that is still hanging in there. A double bowl section is joined by a spine and there is a mix of pool and steel coping, hips, and pockets. Other obstacles include a pyramid with a rail and ledge, bank to ledge, volcano, quarter pipe, and vert wall.

Lighthouse Skatepark

Lighthouse Skatepark is an indoor skateboarding facility located in Pawtucket. There are a variety of ramps and street obstacles that will appeal to all types of skateboarders. A perfect mini ramp sits in one corner and another on the opposite side of the skatepark as well. Several quarter pipes and bank ramps are placed around and the street obstacles include a four-stair, rail, ledge, manual pad, pyramid with a ledge, and a bank to ledge.

November through March open session hours are 3pm to 9pm Tuesday through Sunday. April through October open session hours are 9am to 9pm Saturday and 3pm to 9pm on Sunday with Tuesday through Fridays being reservation only. To skate an open session will cost $10 per person. Riders under the age of eighteen must have a parent sign their waiver.
